Frontier Town and Adler Display, Two Maryland Staples

Monday, April 30th, 2012

Originally designed by Howard Adler in the late 1950’s, Frontier Town in Ocean City, Maryland is one of the last remaining Western theme parks in the United States. Frontier Town was the brain child of Bill Patton and Bill Pacey, Maryland business owners and entrepreneurs who envisioned Ocean City as a popular family destination, well before it became one.

To bring this dream to life, those involved hired Howard Adler and Adler Display to design and create the park and its themed displays. This included:

  • The creation of dozens of larger-than-life animals and characters.
  • The creation of the park centerpiece, a cowboy riding high on his trusty stallion, placed at the main entrance. This display remains in its orginal place to this day, serving as a nostalgic reminder of the park’s rich history.

“I remember when my dad used to take us there (Frontier Town),” said Howard’s son, Ron Adler, the current owner of Adler Display. “Today it’s just like I remember, but it seemed so much bigger when I was little.”

"C'mon down folks"... to our replica western town circa 1860 situated alongside of Frontier Town Campground and only 5 minutes from Ocean City, Maryland. Git yerself ready for a trip back into America's Wild West with all its purdy nostalgia and tons of colorful characters! Return with us to them days of yesteryear and live a day in the life of a rootin' tootin' cowboy, an earth-poundin' Indian Chief or a high steppin' Can Can gal. Browse 'bout the quaint western gift shops, chow down in the town's eateries or jus' rest yer doggies a spell and let the youngins romp 'round while you lose yerself in the thick atmosphere of the Ol' West. http://www.frontiertown.com/western-theme-park/

We at Adler Display are proud to have been a part of the park’s creation and thank those who have taken such good care of our original displays over these past 50 years!

“Every time I visit, I am happy to see that much of my dad’s work is still being enjoyed,” said Ron Adler.

Adler Display Designs and Installs Display Boards for Ocean City, Maryland’s Town Hall Renovation Project

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Adler was approached by representatives of Ocean City, Maryland and charged with creating visually appealing displays that would capture the essence of OC, past and present, for its new Town Hall Renovation Project. The mission was simple; create signage that would be both easily readable and aesthetically pleasing. The challenge was the Town Hall’s narrow hallways and utilitarian lighting. But, as always, Adler Display was up to the challenge.

We created display boards that highlighted a spectacular bird’s-eye view of local landmarks, the town’s officials, its popular Sunfest and the history of Ocean City and its City Hall.

Working closely with the curator of the Ocean City museum, the Mayor, and various other Ocean City officials, Adler Display designed, created, and installed 14 visually stunning panels, throughout the Town Hall, at strategic locations. We took everything into consideration, from lighting and wall color to the materials used in the displays. These materials were chosen to call to mind the architecture of the building and its historical use as a school.

As a result, the finished Adler Display panels have been well received by the Mayor, Ocean City locals and tourists, a like.

Visitor center displays from Adler Display incorporate all that we do best – innovative design, quality craftsmanship, and superior graphics – to create amazing visual and interactive displays.

Adler Display has created a number of visitor center displays including the DuPont Nature Center in Delaware, the Baltimore Visitor Center, The Maryland State Office of Tourism, The Wicomico County Visitor Center, The Dorchester County Visitor Center, and the Garrett County Visitor Center.
