Adler Designs Educational Displays for the DuPont Nature Center

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

Adler Display has created permanent displays for a number of interesting clients, from Frontier Town and the Enchanted Forest to The Benjamin Banneker Museum and more. But perhaps the most interesting of all of Adler’s recent projects is the work we did with the DuPont Nature Center at the Mispillion Harbor Reserve in Delaware.

This one-of-a-kind facility is centered around a natural phenomenon: the mating of the horseshoe crab. Every year, this prehistoric species gathers along the shoreline at Slaughter Beach to mate and lay their eggs. Shortly after, migratory shore birds that have traveled from as far away as the southern tip of South America stop to feed on the horseshoe crab eggs.

Adler was asked by the DuPont Nature Center to capture this unique event, , as well as provide education about other beautiful and fascinating wildlife in Delaware.

The DuPont Nature Center features interactive touch screen displays as well as a full classroom-style center that welcomes school groups, camp groups and many other visitors.

The Murphy Oil Corporation: Lobby Displays & Corporate Interior Design

Friday, October 26th, 2012

The Murphy Oil Corporation is a worldwide oil and gas company with a rich history. So when the El Dorado, Arkansas-based company wanted to visually depict its 100 years of service, they called on Adler Display, a national leader in visual communications through trade show and permanent displays.

Adler Display has been creating custom lobby displays for companies for more than 60 years. Our experience and on-site fabrication shop give us the edge in making your lobby display attractive and functional.

Murphy Oil Corporation: Corporate Lobby Display

Adler Display’s uniquely designed and executed lobby displays are built to serve several purposes, from informational to directional and everything in between. For Murphy Oil, Adler designed, fabricated, and installed a corporate timeline, a visual travel through the company’s 100-year history.

“Chris Massaro and the Adler team presented great concepts but were always willing to take our input and ideas into consideration,” said Murphy Oil Corporation’s director of administrative services, Allison Parker. “As a project that was very close to our hearts, their ability to collaborate with us made for an enjoyable experience overall. And the end result is something that we are all very proud of.”

The project included:

  • Antique signage
  • Historic replicas
  • Interactive video displays that run on state-of-the-art plasma screens
  • A map wall in the lobby, showing visitors Murphy Oil Corporation locations across the globe
  • A large flat-screen monitor displaying up-to-the-minute oil industry news

“With this project, we were able to integrate replicas of oil barrels, classic gas pump globes from Murphy Oil’s retail operations, ship replicas, maps and high-tech monitor displays,” said Adler Display President Ron Adler. “The result is a one-of-a-kind exhibit for a company with an incredible history, and one that we are privileged to be a part of.”

“The entire Adler staff was very professional and took their work very seriously. Their dedication to their work and our project made a huge impact on us. The designer presented great concepts but was always willing to listen to our concerns and take our input into consideration. He altered some of his designs based on our comments but would also present his reasoning on items he felt would work better how he initially designed them. This resulted in the best possible design in the end. The project manager worked to develop creative solutions to specific issues that came with our project. They were always willing to find the perfect fix for a problem instead of taking the easy way out or stopping before we were completely happy with the outcome. The construction crew and installers were each top of class in their field. We appreciate their skills and their attention to detail. We especially appreciate how the team worked so well together. They respect each other and their areas of responsibility. The project was managed very efficiently.” – Allison Parker, Murphy Oil Corporation

Adler Display designs Signage for BACVA Visitor Center

Friday, October 12th, 2012

It may have happened way back in 2004, but we at Adler Display are still very excited about the work we did for the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association (BACVA) Visitor Center. Adler Display designed two high-tech ticker tape signs, state-of-the-art plasma and LCD monitors and interactive programs, as well as traditional displays and multimedia digital exhibits for BACVA.

  • Ticker-Tape Displays: These displays provide visitors with up-to-date information about events in and around Baltimore.
  • Digital Displays: “The idea is to draw people visiting the Inner Harbor into the Visitor Center and then dazzle them with the latest technology delivering the up-to-date information once inside,” said Ron Adler, president of Adler Display. “All high-tech, multimedia exhibits throughout the Center, as well as all interior and exterior signage, are linked and centrally controlled by an on-site computer.”
  • Traditional Displays: Adler Display designed three brochure displays with large back-lit photos and overhead sculptural panels, as well as two Baltimore Transportation Map displays.

“[Adler Display] worked hand-in-hand with the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association on the display design and construction to ensure that together we are putting Baltimore’s best foot forward,” said Adler. “We are very excited about this project and proud of how it promotes our hometown.”

Adler Display: Helping Make the World a Better Place One Display at a Time

Friday, October 5th, 2012

At Adler Display, we not only take pride in our work, creating some of the most aesthetically pleasing trade show displays and permanent displays, but we also pride ourselves in the way we do business. And recognizing our impact on the environment, we at Adler Display implemented a green initiative to reduce our waste and provide our clients with greener displays.

Reducing Internal Waste: At our facility in Baltimore, Maryland, we have implemented ways to reuse and recycle materials. In our offices, our staff recycles paper, bottles, cans, and boxes. And in our production department, our staff places excess paper, plastic, glass, and other materials used in the production of displays in special recycling containers for weekly pickup by Integrated Waste, our partner and client.

We estimate that we have reduced our waste by more than 80% through this initiative.

Producing Green Displays: At Adler Display, we actively seek out production materials made of recycled materials. Our displays themselves, from our bamboo banner stands to our large aluminum displays, are also recyclable.

We have many clients who not only request green displays, but require them, and we are more than happy to oblige. Just ask any of our associates about how you can make your displays green displays.

If you would like to learn more about Green Displays, or if you would like to know what Adler Display can do for you, please contact us by calling 410-281-1200 or visit AdlerDisplay.com.

Your advice, enthusiasm, professionalism, and creativity brought our concept to life—not sure we could have done it without you.” —The Community College of Baltimore County

Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken Jr., the Baltimore Orioles, and Adler Display

Friday, August 24th, 2012

Adler Display is deeply entrenched in the tradition and history of the city of Baltimore, Maryland. Because of this, it only made sense for Adler to tackle a project like a traveling display depicting the history of the Baltimore Orioles. The exhibit, sponsored by The Baltimore Sun and presented by Nissan(R), includes exciting photos and memorabilia highlighting the Orioles throughout the years, including Cal Ripken Jr.’s incredible consecutive game streak, World Series championships, Memorial Stadium, Camden Yards, and much more.

“It’s a great display of Baltimore baseball history,” said Ron Adler, president of Adler Display. “As a lifelong fan of the Orioles, I get chills every time I see it.”

This was not Adler Displays first foray into a baseball-themed exhibit. Adler had previously completed two displays for the Babe Ruth Museum, one depicting the Babe from his early days in Baltimore to his glory days as baseball’s Sultan of Swat and the other on Cal Ripken Jr.’s 2,131 “Iron Man” streak.

“But having Adler Display honored by creating a display of the 50 years of the Orioles, now that was the best!” said Adler. “Some displays are just more fun to create than others,” said Adler.

Ideas for Lobby Exhibits in a Secure Space

Friday, August 17th, 2012

Lobby displays serve as a visitor’s first impression for your organization. Uniquely designed and executed lobby displays can inform, direct, and impress your visitors at first glance.

Adler Display recently installed a lobby exhibit for the Harford County Sheriff. There are several considerations to make when working in a high traffic, high profile, secure space such as this, including:

  1. We had to make sure this display was vandal proof/resistant - since it was being installed in the precinct lobby they didn’t want anyone to be able to hide behind any part of it for security – or be able to pick or vandalize any part of the graphics while they were waiting in the lobby.
  2. It also needed to be easily update-able so we sandwiched the copy between two pieces of glass on a clear piece of film that can easily be removed and updated.
  3. Another big concern was legibility 24 hours a day – effected by sunlight during the day from all the windows and interior lighting at night and during the day. The area was to be used for meetings as well as photo shoots and television camera interviews, so choosing materials was critical and doing test samples was important.  What color the copy should be against the background image so that it was legible in any lighting situation, use of non-glare products etc.  The client wanted black or dark blue copy in front of a navy blue based background image – it wasn’t legible at all – we had to come up with other options.

In the end, the final product was everything the client had hoped for and more!

Adler Display has been creating custom lobby displays, like the one above, for companies for more than 60 years. Our experience and on-site fabrication shop give us the edge in making your lobby display attractive and functional.
