In June of 2006, the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park & Museum debuted its new exhibit hall. For 18 months prior, Adler Display worked with museum curator Steven Lee to create the unique exhibits, including cabin & furniture replicas, climate controlled display cases, a conference center and more. Below is a gallery of the work that Adler Display designed, fabricated and installed at the museum. Main Exhibit Hall

Adler Display took the time to do research and work with the curator to ensure historical accuracy, and whenever possible, used materials from the actual location of Banneker's cabin.

In the main exhibit hall of the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum, Adler Display used lumber from the 1800's to create replicas of Banneker's cabin and the table that was one of the only pieces of furniture in Banneker's home.

Adjacent to the cabin area is a map of Washington D.C. Banneker surveyed the area and created the map in the late 1700's.

Climate Controlled Display Cases

An archeological dig was done in the area of Banneker's cabin, which burned down in 1790. From that dig, several artifacts were found. Adler Display created special climate controlled cases to show these items.

The cases are accented by historical photographic backgrounds as well as items that were found in the forest where Banneker's cabin was located.

Modern Technologies

Adler Display has the expertise to merge modern technologies with history, and the video kiosk at the Banneker Museum is no exception.

In the museum, Adler Display created a video kiosk featuring a plasma screen that runs a movie about Benjamin Banneker. In order to help it fit into its surroundings, Adler Display supported the screen with trees, and created a rustic cabinet to hold the DVD player and other equipment below.

Graphics & Signage

Adler's attention to detail and superior design, fabrication and installation capabilities are evident throughout the museum, including on each and every graphic.

Throughout the museum, Adler Display created graphics and signage that provide details on Banneker's life including his family's immigration to America.

Historical facts on Banneker's work in astronomy and mathematics provide museum visitors with interesting and educational information.
