MONROE, La. October 27, 2011 -- Adler Display (adlerdisplay.com), a national leader in visual communications through trade show and permanent displays, announced today the completion of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and a replica of the Louisiana Window at the University of Louisiana at Monroe Library’s Special Collections. The two permanent exhibit installations were unveiled to the public in a special ceremony in September. An original authenticated manuscript of "The Battle Hymn of the
Republic" in author Julia Ward Howe’s handwriting was bestowed to the
University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2008 by Linda Noe Laine, a
philanthropist and long-time ULM supporter. Now, with the help of Adler
Display, the manuscript is brought to life with a custom-made display
case and state-of-the-art sound dome. Visitors can see the lyrics and
hear a rendition of the song by the ULM Concert Choir and the ULM Wind
Ensemble as they enter the dome and read the manuscript. The display
also includes a video screen and rare framed photograph of Howe. "It allows students to observe the document as well as listen to the music, so beautifully performed by the Concert Choir," said ULM President Nick J. Bruno. "It puts students in touch with their past." Adler Display also installed a light box exhibit for an exact replica of
The Louisiana Window, the original of which was dedicated in 1995 in
honor of Ms. Linda Noe Laine's parents and is located in the Henry VII
Chapel of the historic Westminster Abbey in London. It is a stained
glass window that celebrates early settlers to the heartland of America.
Laine's parents, Governor James Albert Noe and Mrs. Anna Gray Noe of Monroe, were ardent supports of ULM until the governor's death in 1976. In addition to
the two custom exhibits, Adler Display delivered a custom audio cabinet
display to the Mausoleum where Governor Noe is interred. "I am impressed with the results of my ideas combined with the talented skills of the excellent design artists at Adler Display," said Linda Noe Laine. "They have made a dream come into being an exquisite reality." This University of Louisiana at Monroe Library project continues Adler Display's long-standing tradition of creating innovative display design and fabrication to bring art, artifacts, and information to life.
